Hell, I work in Quahog and sometimes it's hard to get to the meeting on time due to work needing my presence for stuff. In the short term, we're kind of stuck with the time frame we've got, as the time slot we have (First weds from 1730-1900) for the performance space at AS220 was one of the last regular time slots available in their calendar. Remember, the meetings 'start' at 1730, but the talks don't actually begin until 1800. Take that into account when you're planning your travel to the meeting. In the long term, when the new Mercantile block building opens next year (currently slated for 3Q2010) and the AS220 Fab Lab moves over there, there will be enough space to hold the meetings in that space and more importantly, we'll be able to extend the start and end times to allow for later arrivals and more hanging out afterwards. For now, I ask for patience and sneaky early departures from work once a month. It'll get better next year. While we're on the topic of AS220... They're holding their end of year fund-raiser to balance the budget for 2009. Grab yourself a tax-deductible charitable donation before the end of the year and help support the folks who host us every month. http://as220.org/front/ /ducksauz Matt Bell wrote: > Seconded by folks whom work in Boston and live in Quahog. ;) > > Todd Page wrote: >> Hey y'all: >> >> I recognize that you're a group based in Little Rhody, but as Boston >> doesn't have one, we wanted to share your group - unfortunately it >> takes about an hour to get to Providence from here, so making a >> meeting at 5:30 is close to impossible unless we leave work early, >> which isn't always an option. >> >> Any chance y'all could start aiming for 6 or 6:30? >> >> Pretty please? >> >> -Boston-folk >> >> [Specifically .THP && .JPG] >> _______________________________________________ >> dc401-l mailing list >> dc401-l at dc401.org >> http://dc401.org/mailman/listinfo/dc401-l >> >> > _______________________________________________ > dc401-l mailing list > dc401-l at dc401.org > http://dc401.org/mailman/listinfo/dc401-l > From meganbillings at gmail.com Thu Dec 3 14:18:00 2009 From: meganbillings at gmail.com (Megan Billings) Date: Thu, 3 Dec 2009 14:18:00 -0500 Subject: [dc401-l] Fab Lab Message-ID: <1b43f0850912031118h521e474aqee0c54fd09aa6a8c@mail.gmail.com> I'll be monitoring the laser cutter and Fab Lab from about 5:00 to 7:45 tonight. So- thank you all for taking the time to come and listen to me- I hope it was entertational. :) I would like to present a similar, updated and improved talk at QC, so any feedback to that end would be great. Che emailed me asking: "If one was to bring a brain machine, could pointers be given for that?" To which I say, absolutely. If you have a *comparably sized* kit laying around that you haven't built yet, bring it and we'll work to get it going. Don't bring your APPLE I clone kit, that's a little much to get done in an hour. /ducksauz ducksauz wrote: > Hey Everyone: > > January's DC401 meeting is going to be a kit build night. > I'm going to give y'all a choice of two kits: > > If you want to participate, please respond directly to me with which kit > you want to build and a solemn promise not to blow off the meeting and > stiff me on the kit. :) > > [ ] SIM Reader - http://www.ladyada.net/make/simreader/ > [ ] TV-B-Gone - http://www.ladyada.net/make/tvbgone/ > > Cost will be $20 per kit. > Bring your own batteries (9v for SIM reader, 2xAA for TV-B-Gone) > > /ducksauz > > > _______________________________________________ > dc401-l mailing list > dc401-l at dc401.org > http://dc401.org/mailman/listinfo/dc401-l > From john at duksta.org Wed Dec 9 14:26:26 2009 From: john at duksta.org (John Duksta) Date: Wed, 09 Dec 2009 19:26:26 +0000 Subject: [dc401-l] Upcoming Meetings - Calendar fodder Message-ID: <4B1FF9E2.5030606@duksta.org> 6 January 2010 - Kit Build Night - See email from earlier today 24 February 2010 - TBA - Moved to the last Weds to avoid possible ShmooCon conflict. Details below. As Dave, may have told you, I have been advertising for three months for a student "on-call" consultant to fix glitches in my computers at Privacy Journal - mostly Excel, Word, my shopping card on the Web site, and in our customized database for managing subscriptions. None of it very tricky. No takers this time, which surprises me. If you know of such a person looking for basic consulting work, please let me know. It involves about 6 hours a month at my office on the East Side of Providence. Ping me if you're interested and I'll handle the introductions. /ducksauz From mike at umbricht.org Sun Dec 13 21:53:15 2009 From: mike at umbricht.org (Michael L.
