October 2007 Archives
I've been trying to get a larger, better quality version working on Google Video, but to no avail. Here's the small version for your viewing pleasure. We're going to be using Google Video instead of YouTube for these videos to avoid the 10 minute length limit that YouTube imposes.
Huge thanks to DC401 member Ed Foss for bringing his video camera and being the videographer.
Update 2007-12-06: I've created an account on blip.tv and we'll be hosting the video with them. No file size limits, and if we turn on advertising, we can actually make some money from it if we want to (but I'm not going to do that just yet.)
David Ortiz of the Providence Business News did a story on us. He took a little creative license with the 'internet powered toaster' line, but otherwise I think it sheds a fairly positive light on the group. Too bad they didn't use one of the pictures from by the train tracks. That would have looked bad ass.

Embedded devices come in many forms, and offer unique opportunities for attackers to do damage. This talk will focus primarily on common network devices such as routers and wireless access points and how they can be used to gain access to your target and preventative measures. We will stroll down memory lane and review some of the vulnerabilities that have been released for embedded devices, and how we can them to gain control of the device, the network, and more importantly the data traveling across it.

As I announced at the October meeting, we can't really use the official DefCon crossbones logo as part of our logo. Thus, we need a logo of our own. Get our your markers and your pencils (or more likely, your gimp, photoshop or illustrator) and get to work.
The Rules:
* Entries should be vector artwork so they scale nicely for a variety of uses (online, print and clothing).
* Work must be 100% original. We can't afford an infringement lawsuit.
* The winning entry will become the property of DC401
* Entries must be received by 31 Dec 2007.
* Voting for the winning entry will be done at the January meeting.
The Prize
Not set in stone yet, but I was thinking a $50 gift certificate to ThinkGeek might be cool.
